Mirage
I
saw you there you were in the desert of my life.
Hot and cold and ever boldly mocking me then caressing my mind
It
was the wit and wisdom born of painfully gained freedom.
You received nothing but my naive humor and shallow repartee.
Like a mirage I
had to be a hint of nothing to come.
You looked through me and saw the sun and offered me shade
As I followed your mind you showed me your soul.
Like a thirsty man in the desert I cupped my hands
I dipped them into your cool and watery pool
I brought your freshness to my lips and drank my thirst away.
You
gave me life as I gave you meaning in the moon's glow
I'll sit here in the shade of your oasis as long as I may and forever see you or the beautiful mirage of the memories we shared.
