for the trees

hidden in plain sight of everyday words

lurking in all the push and pull of distance

fear, anger, questioning the very sanity we need

we see only a ubiquitous veil of limbs and leaves

deep thoughts in the far reaches of sub-consciousness

binds us together in an awful dilemma solved only with time

that's where I get stuck looking over the shoulder of today wistfully

there is no tomorrow only today

why can't I know there is a forest

all I see are trees
